Northwest Airlines flight attendants could be close to agreeing on a deal with the company to help them save nearly $200 million dollars each year. With interim 20 to 25 percent pay cuts now in place, the flight attendants' annual pay ranges from $15,500 to $38,000. Nice to know the people showing you how to place O2 masks on during rapid decompression or showing you how to exit the aircraft during an emergancy are earning below the federal poverty level. But thank goodness the CEO, Doug Steenland, makes $523,577 a year while his company struggles to keep itself from chapter 7.

The union for Northwest Airlines flight attendants believes it may be close to a deal on a new contract with the bankrupt carrier.
Meanwhile, unions for the carrier's pilots and ground workers are preparing to strike should they not seal deals with Northwest.
The flight attendants union is offering Northwest the $195 million in annual savings the airline wants, union spokeswoman Karen Schultz said.
