An update from last weeks story regarding US Airways and on-time performance over the Thanksgiving Holiday
In an attempt to turn passenger’s sentiment from a negative image to that of a positive one, US Airways (LCC) released preliminary results for their performance over the holiday week.
Since combining the two airlines, US Airways and America West, the airline reported their best Wednesday to Sunday on-time rating of 86.6. That means that 86 percent of their flights arrived within 14 minutes of their scheduled arrival times. This was a pretty good showing for an airline that ranked 19 out of 20 in on-time ratings last quarter.
The airline also said that they completed 99.6 percent of scheduled flights and had fewer mishandled bags than expected.
President Scott Kirby said, “We expect this positive momentum will carry us through the rest of this year and into 2008.”
But some are not so certain. On the popular aviation site, FlyerTalk.com, some are blasting the airline for one positive week. One person wrote, “One good week in two years and two months does not mean anything but one good week."
Obviously US Airways has some persuading to do.
