The busiest travel holiday week turned out to be less stressful than most has thought. The relatively calm weather across the nation and especially over the hub airports helped make this an uneventful travel week.
A few friends even noted that the airports were fairly calm. Minneapolis-St. Paul's International Airport was uneventful, full but uneventful the afternoon before Thanksgiving.
Airlines wanted to avoid last year's meltdown by hiring more staff to help passengers out. Everywhere from customer service agents to baggage handlers and more. Airlines made sure not to repeat last years mistakes and repeat this years massive delays.
Another issue that did not arrise this year, the introduction of new security policies. The TSA did not throw new screening policies or new restrictions on the public at the last moment.
The government added that opening up military airspace up on the east coast helped avoid some delays but airlines and air traffic controllers want real changes to the system to help reduce volume congestion.
Next up... the Christmas Holiday...
