Delta Air Lines Major Supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Two years ago Delta Air Lines (DAL) unveiled their brightly painted Boeing 757, N5100L, with the pink livery including the traditional pink ribbon.

DeltaPinkPlane2Ejpg.jpgDelta Air Lines has again partnered with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical and genetic research to find ways to prevent and cure breast cancer.

Delta passengers can help out this month.  On board passengers will be able to purchase pink lemonade at $2, which all profits go to BCRF.

Delta flight attendants and airport customer service agents are also purchasing and wearing pink ties, scarves, decorative pocket squares and T-shirts this month to raise awareness for the cause.  These profits also go to benefit BCRF.

Since 2005, Delta has raised $450,000 for BCRF.

What a great initiative - this sounds like a lot of fun for passengers, and an easy way they can donate to such a worthwhile cause. Not to mention great fun for staff (although I can imagine some of the male cabin crew may have struggled with the pink dress code!) That plane looks fabulous too!

I do like the livery on this B757. I'm glad to see Delta being so supportive of a great cause.

October should also be called Iodine Supplement Awareness Month, since Iodine is the key to breast cancer prevention.

Fibrocystic Breast Disease, the Iodine Deficiency Connection

A good friend of ours just went through an ordeal with breast cancer. The incidence of breast cancer has increased to 1 in 8 women, with 4,000 new cases weekly.

You might ask, could there be a preventive measure which is safe, cheap and widely available that has been overlooked?

The answer is YES , and it’s the essential mineral, Iodine, which was added to table salt in 1924 as part of a national program to prevent Goiter. It turns out that this same Iodine in table salt is the key to breast cancer prevention as proposed by the following list of prestigious doctors:

Guy Abraham, MD, Robert Derry MD PHD, David Brownstein MD, George Flechas MD, Donald Miller, M.D.

Dr. B.A. Eskin published 80 papers over 30 years researching iodine and breast cancer, and he reports that iodine deficiency causes breast cancer and thyroid cancer in humans and animals. Iodine deficiency is also known to cause a pre-cancerous condition called fibrocystic breast disease.

W.R. Ghent published a paper in 1993 which showed iodine supplementation works quite well to reverse and resolve fibrocystic changes of the breast, and this is again the subject of a current clinical study.(Can J Surg. 1993 Oct;36(5):453-60.)

Despite its obvious potential, not much has been done with Iodine treatment over the past 40 years in the United States. Since iodine isn't patentable and is therefore unlikely to be profitable to market, there is no money to fund studies for “FDA approval". However, FDA approval is not required since Iodine is already an additive to table salt at the supermarket.

WE PURCHASED TWO TICKETS FROM PENSACOLA TO FT LAUDERDALE
THEN DECIDED TO LET CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE HANDLE TRAVEL AND THE CRUICE. WE ASKED DELTA TO CANCEL THE TICKETS AND THEY ADVISED US THEY WERE NONRREFUNDABLE. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. WE WERE TOLD THEY COULD BE USED BY 9/2007 HOWEVER; WE DID NOT NEED TO FLY ANYWHERE. WE TRIED TO USE THEM WITH GRANDCHILDREN, BUT NO WAS THE ANSWER. YOU STOLE $639.40 FROM US. 006218235948-392 AND 403 DATED 9/20/06 N0NE OF OUR FAMILIES WILL EVERE FLY DELTA AGAIN. WE ARE PLANNING A TRIP TO EUROPE AND ONE TO THE WEST COAST FOR AN ALASKAN CRUISE, BUT DELTA WILL NOT BE INVOLVED AS WELL AS OTHER OF OUR FLYING TRIPS.

I understand that you are upset by this incident. I suggest that you contact Delta Air Lines customer service, as I do not work for them.

You have to read the fine print of the ticket details closely. A lot of times tickets are non-refundable unless you purchase a more expensive ticket.

Also being nice to the customer service agent on the phone will get you further than yelling and being mean to them. They are more willing to help you out if you are nice and polite, as they directly did not have control over policies.

Airline-cheaptickets.com provides cheap airline tickets and online flight booking, airline ticket online, airline reservations, online booking, online flight booking, discount airfare and cheap international airfare.
