October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Two years ago Delta Air Lines (DAL) unveiled their brightly painted Boeing 757, N5100L, with the pink livery including the traditional pink ribbon.
Delta Air Lines has again partnered with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical and genetic research to find ways to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Delta passengers can help out this month. On board passengers will be able to purchase pink lemonade at $2, which all profits go to BCRF.
Delta flight attendants and airport customer service agents are also purchasing and wearing pink ties, scarves, decorative pocket squares and T-shirts this month to raise awareness for the cause. These profits also go to benefit BCRF.
Since 2005, Delta has raised $450,000 for BCRF.
Delta Air Lines Press Release
What a great initiative - this sounds like a lot of fun for passengers, and an easy way they can donate to such a worthwhile cause. Not to mention great fun for staff (although I can imagine some of the male cabin crew may have struggled with the pink dress code!) That plane looks fabulous too!
