On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment.
Twenty million readers, fifteen thousand blogs, companies like Google, and organizations like the United Nations have all felt the need to talk about the issue.
On a day that oil prices hit a new high of $86 a barrel, we all need to take a deeper look at where we are going and what we are doing to our environment.
So what airlines out there are going green?
Well Air New Zealand, Rolls-Royce Group Plc, and the Boeing Company are investing in a joint project to use biofuels to power a Boeing 747 airplane. The companies hope to have the plane running on the biofuel by late 2008 or early 2009.
Virgin Atlantic Airways runs all of their key office sites from renewable energy sources. They also have put their planes on diets, reducing weight and even ordering new fuel efficent jets.
Many other airlines have done the same things too. Not only is it cost effective for the airlines but it also can help save our environment.
There are things you can do to help too. Fly airlines that give back to the environment as much as possible. Use carbon offsetting if you can. And there are so many other things as well. Are there other airlines out there help reduce carbon emissions or help our environment?
