United Scrapping Dual Jet-Bridges

United Airlines is scrapping their plans for the dual jet-bridge platforms.  The Chicago based carrier said that after review of a March jet-bridge incident, the carrier decided to forego the new dual boarding gates aimed at embarking and disembarking passengers more quickly.

After a mishap with a Boeing 757, the company will stop using the dual boarding gates instead returning them to single jet bridges.

The airline would not disclose how much they would be losing on this project but best guesses would assume the project was a costly investment.

Too bad United has decided to forego the technology, because tests at the company’s Denver hub with TED aircraft showed times to board and exit the plane were cut nearly in half.  Boarding an Airbus A320 took 12 minutes down from 18 and down to 4.5 minutes from 12 minutes to exit the plane.
