With poor customer relations, ridiculous baggage handling, and a pathetic on-time performance, US Airways (LCC) has hired Robert Isom as their new Chief Operating Officer in hopes of improving.
Isom will be in charge of nearly 36,000 employees at US Airways and US Airways Express and report directly to President Scott Kirby. He will be responsible for flight operations, in-flight services, maintenance and engineering, airport customer service, reservations and US Airways Express.
So from the moment you log on to USAirways.com to book a flight, Isom will be there to ensure that passengers are getting exactly what they expect from the company.
Isom has some major issues to work out. In the first six months of this year, US Airways had the worst on-time record with only 63.8% of their flights showing up on time. And their complaints at the airline doubled from last year, ranking US Airways last among 20 other airlines.
US Airways is facing even bigger woes when the frequent fliers start to abandon ship.
Art Pushkin, chairman of Frequent Flyers Organized and Committed to US Airways' Success, said the new hire "may be too little too late."
