Looking for a job in the airline industry?  Northwest Airlines (NWA) is hiring some 1,400 new employees this year as it looks to expand internationally and replace retiring workers.  The airline has already hired 3,600 workers this year to help the company.  Just weeks ago the airline said it would hire 350 more pilots to help solve the staff shortage issues that plagued the company near the end of the month. 

Northwest Airlines wants to boost their international travel by as much as 6 percent this year an important strategy in their post bankruptcy plan. 

"We're looking at planned attrition and growth and meeting our hiring needs," spokesman Roman Blahoski said the other day. 

Northwest cut labor by 22 percent in bankruptcy.  Many said that was too aggressive for the airline.  And they might be right.  The airline had pilot shortage issues recently and now they are hiring in large quantities.
