The new CEO of Frontier Airlines (FRNT), Sean Menke, has spent some time with the airline before. He brings in a fresh face to the airline and some fresh perspective. Menke developed the “Whole Different Animal” concept the airline prides itself on now.
Now Menke steps into the top spot at the airline as they are nearly ready to launch their turbo-prop services to smaller cities such as Rapid City, SD and mountain cities like Aspen.
The airline is facing some tough competition in Denver. They are vulnerable because the airline has most of their operations in and out of Denver. The airline has tried several times to expand operations in focus cities such as Los Angeles but have failed. Now Frontier is trying some new routes including expanding non-stop flights in and out of Memphis without going through their hub in Denver.
The new CEO talks of possibly looking into offering la carte pricing at the airline, something that is successful at AirCanada.
But the new CEO says the airline just needs to continue to execute their plans with some minor tweaking along the way if needed. "We do need to execute the strategy that's in place. ... Over time, if we need to make changes we will, but, again, I'm very confident in what the leadership has laid out."
A la carte type of program might be something that sets Frontier apart from a growing field of low cost carriers in the states. Pay for the things you want, nothing more.
