The Air Traffic Controllers are popping the bubbly.
Air Traffic Controllers are rejoicing over the rumored departure of FAA Administrator Marion Blakey. The 15th FAA Administrator was sworn in on September 13, 2002 as the second female administrator. Her departure will come in mid September.
Her reign includes overseeing the contract negotiations with air traffic controllers in recent years and the modernization of the air traffic control system. However, her battle with air traffic controllers was one of the most brutal negotiation rounds seen by the controllers. Pay was cut for incoming recruits and the hiring freeze that left the system stressed when it most needed replacement workers for the massive retirement exodus that is currently taking place are two of the major things that plagued Blakey.
I know I'll be apart of the party.
