One of the late comers to the business class upgrades, United Airlines will begin upgrading their business class on all international flights with a host of technology and improved sleeping accommodations.
United will add iPod adapters and wide screen flat plan screens to their international business class.
The airline is also be one of only a few airlines to offer fully 180 degree horizontal sleeping beds for business class.
However with the increased space needed for the bigger business class seats, the number of seats will be reduced but the economy section will gain some seats.
"For those prepared to pay more money for value, we've been very much targeting improving the product," said Graham Atkinson, United's executive vice president and chief customer officer.
The main cabin on international routes will notice upgrades as well. Newer carpets and upholstery, upgraded restrooms and the use of digital quality on video screens will be part of the upgrades.
The upgrade for United’s nearly 100 international aircraft is expected to be completed by 2009.
The marketing campagin with this new product is quite visable. Videos on YouTube and even marketing bits on Weatherbug were some of the recent ads I have seen.
