Just over two months ago, Skybus launched out of Columbus, Ohio.  Today the airline that only has 5 Airbus aircraft is serving 11 destinations and has helped spur a record number of passengers using Port Columbus Airport. 

Port Columbus Airport last year had just over 600,000 passengers in June.  In June 2007 the airport had 725,000 passengers passing through. 

And Skybus is not done expanding out of Columbus. 

Skybus has received permission from the Department of Transportation to begin flying internationally.  The airline will begin service from Columbus to Cancun starting in October and will start service to the Bahamas next year.  Skybus is currently awaiting permission from the governments of Mexico and the Bahamas to begin service. 

Hmmmm, $10 dollars to Cancun.  Sold!
