Frontier Airlines (FRNT) named 4 cities that will receive Lynx service later this year. Frontier’s new Q400 turboprop planes will begin daily non-stop service between Denver and Sioux City, Iowa; Rapid City, S.D.; and Wichita, Kan. Frontier will also substitute regional service from Denver to Billings, MT. for Lynx turboprop service.
The service to Sioux City, Rapid City, and Wichita aboard the 74 seat planes will be brand new cities for Frontier beginning in October.
Frontier shows that it is not afraid to go up against the big boys. It will face direct head to head competition on routes to Billings, Wichita and Rapid City.
Billings and Wichita will get 3 daily flights and Sioux City and Rapid City will get 2 daily flights beginning October 1st and 5th respectively.
Frontier spokesman Joe Hodas said, “If we don't see the possibility to build a significant market base, we won't go. Incentives can help make you successful, but more importantly, they represent a commitment from the community to make it work.”
