Could the Open Skies Agreement De-rail?

The United Kingdom is not happy with the way the open skies agreement is progressing.  They are so dissatisfied that they might even derail the second stage if certain conditions are not met.

The UK wants to see a "further liberalization of market access, including U.S. ownership and foreign control rules," said Gillian Merron, MP for Lincoln and undersecretary for transport.

This was a sticking point for Virgin America, which recently was granted permission to fly in the United States after several modifications to the airline, including finding a replacement for their current CEO Fred Feid.

There is some time to negotiate between the two nations; however, the UK is not backing down.  They said if conditions are not met it may mean that the UK suspends US based traffic into their country.

Oh yeah, sure UK, sure.

Suspending UK-US service will drastically harm the UK much more that it could ever do to the US, and send British Airways into a financial tailspin.

The Britons and their ridiculous grandstanding.

It means US bases airlines like United, not BA, or virgin. Unless the US bans British based airlines, then ba would open its slots to oneworld partners.
