
Delta Air Lines (DAL) has gained the support from 8 southern governors as they continue to push for the next China route. Governors from Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Tennessee signed a letter back in early May petitioning the Department of Transportation to give the next route to Atlanta based Delta Air Lines.
The letter to U.S. Transportation Department Secretary Mary Peters, "sends a clear message of regional support for Delta's bid," Perdue said at a Thursday press conference.
Delta is pitted against former hositle takeover bidder, US Airways who wants to start services from PHL.
In the meantime, Delta is continuing to expand thier international services after signing a ticket and baggage agreement with South American carrier, GOL.
"This agreement effectively expands Delta's destinations by making it easier for Delta passengers to enjoy travel to GOL's area of service," said Christophe Didier, Delta vice president of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean.
This new deal helps stregthen Delta's network in South America.
