Canada’s WestJet is looking to be a major international player by 2016.  The airline has set a goal of becoming “to be one of the top five airlines internationally.”  WestJet currently offers 26 destinations within Canada, 11 destinations to the United States and one international destination to the Bahamas. 

After the recent addition of the Nassau, Bahamas, the carrier “…see many more potential international opportunities.” 

The carrier continues to expand.  WestJet expects to announce "in the near future" alliances with other carriers which will allow for "tremendous opportunity to add aircraft." And the airline has forged an alliance with China Airlines which allows WestJet passengers to fly into Asian destinations.
