In one last attempt to takeover Midwest Air, AirTran Airways has extended their offer to the airline.  The new offer extends until June 8^th.  AirTran said nearly 57 percent of Midwest's shares had been tendered under its offer.

Midwest continues to fight it though.  "It doesn't change anything.  The board continues to remain steadfast in its view that the offer is inadequate,” said Midwest spokeswoman Carol Skornicka. 

People are fighting this deal because of Midwest's hometown appeal and the potential loss of Midwest’s beloved cookies.  Maybe Midwest and the people fighting this merger should look at if the routes overlap, the fleet similarity or if the management teams would blend together to create a better, stronger airline more able to take on the legacy carriers.
