The unions at United Airlines parent company UAL Corp. (UAUA) are 'outraged' at the rewards that top executives at the airline are getting. Most notably, CEO Glenn Tilton, who received compenstation valued near $40 million.
The groups, which represent 30,000 flight attendants, pilots, mechanics, air traffic controllers and engineers, have formed a coalition "to demand our fair share in the financial rewards that management currently enjoys."
United's top five executives received 2006 compensation packages valued at about $100 million over the course of several years.
"We regularly work with our unions to address issues important to them," said United spokeswoman Jean Medina.
But that still does not exuse the outrageous salaries that the top executives at the airline are getting. United Airline employees took a huge cut in benefits and pay to help the company from collasping. It only seems fair that now that the company is starting to get back on its feet, that those who have helped bring success back to the airline reap some of the benefits, not just those at the very top.
Besides, can United really afford to pay their top executives $100 million? The airline can hardly be classified as finanically healthy.

They ought to ride his ass out on a rail, just like McCarty at AMR a few years back.
