A Hawaiian carrier topped the on-time performance rating yet again with a score of 91.9% of planes being on time. Hawaiian Holdings (HA) the parent company of Hawaiian Air topped Aloha Airlines by just 0.3% points for January. It is no surprise that Hawaiian carriers do so well. They are less burdened by poor weather conditions and traffic delays.
However on the mainland, Southwest Airlines Co., (LUV) the parent company of low cost carrier Southwest Airlines, posted the best rate at 82.4%, although it was a distant third to Hawaiian and Aloha.
No other carrier in the United States had an on-time arrival rate greater than 80%, due in part to major storms that hit hub cities.
Hawaiian Air CEO Mark Dunkerley said, "The consistency of excellence by our employees is the reason that Hawaiian has now been America's on-time champion for 37 of the past 39 months."
At the bottom of the pack, SkyWest Airlines 64.96%, ComAir 67.32%, American Eagle 67.37%, American Airlines 67.43%, and even JetBlue came in with only 68.77% of their flights on time.
