Do anyone else seem less than a little skeptical that Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines have pushed their reorganization plans back to within 30 days of each other? They did file for bankruptcy protection within hours of each other, it only makes sense they come out of bankruptcy protection within days of each other too.
Delta Air Lines said the extension — its fourth such request — from April 16 to June 1 is necessary because a confirmation hearing on its Chapter 11 plan is scheduled for April 25, after the current deadline.
Delta said it is not making the request as a negotiating tactic, and it insisted it is on course to emerge from Chapter 11 on the schedule it set.
I really do not buy that arguement. They said they want to emerge a standalone company even after being persued by US Airways, yet still considered a merger with Northwest Airlines.
A motion filed Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York asked that the so-called exclusivity period be extended to June 29, 2007. It is due to expire March 16.

It is my personal opinion that something is going on between these two carriers. Whether it be they emerge alone and then merge or they merge on the day they come out of bankruptcy, something is going on.
