Northwest Airlines are up to their old tricks again. Days after Frontier Airlines announced plans to start non-stop services from Memphis to Denver, Orlando, and Las Vegas, the Eagan based carrier will be pumping up services out of Memphis.
Northwest will replace their regional jet service from Memphis to Denver with their Airbus A319 and Airbus A320 aircraft to compete head to head with Frontier and their A318 aircraft.
And after Frontier announced plans to fly from Memphis to Orlando non-stop, Atlanta based low cost carrier, AirTran Airways said they would begin non-stop service from Memphis to Orlando too.
It looks like Northwest is afriad of a little competition from the LCC's. Northwest better watch themselves with both Frontier and AirTran. Both of these airlines have superior products to Northwest. Northwest can slash their prices all they want but the ultimate decision lies in the choices Memphis fliers make.
I'd take TV, friendly service, new aircraft, and reasonable prices over NWA's product anyday, but that's my personal opinion. Memphis can make their own.
AirTran Airways Service from Memphis to Orlando begins May 8
Frontier Airlines Service from Memphis to Denver, Orlando, Las Vegas begins May 12.
