Would anyone care to speculate why a Southwest Airlines internet ad is showing up on a Minneapolis news station website?  Is the company looking into see how much traffic will come off this internet ad?  Is the company looking into expanding into the Twin Cities? 

I was under the assumption that internet ads were targeted towards people and their buying habits but with the two closest Southwest Airline’s cities being Omaha (380 miles) and Chicago (410 miles) away, it does not seem like Southwest would be drawing much road traffic from Minneapolis to those cities. 

It could just be an interesting ad placement by Southwest but it could also just be for people who read their hometown news and live in a different city.  Either case, placing an ad for a city you do not fly into seems like an interesting way to start to research support for future destinations.
