
Starting in May, Memphis travellers will have another choice in airlines to Denver. Frontier Airlines Holdings Inc., (FRNT) the parent company of low cost carrier, Frontier Airlines, will begin non stop service to and from Memphis via their Denver hub.
"We’ve been looking at Memphis for quite some time. Typically when we go into a new city, we start with service to and from Denver. This is a little beyond that because there will be other service from Memphis involved," ," said Frontier spokesman Joe Hodas.
Services to Cancun, which has become a sort of focus city for Frontier, looks to be a likely choice in "other services" from Memphis if the city embraces Frontier Airlines.
Frontier will also offer non-stop services to Orlando and Las Vegas from Memphis. Something newer to the airline. The airline has started to branch out from their hub, Denver and offer non-stop destinations not through their hub.
Northwest Airlines and United Airlines both fly the Memphis-Denver run but only offer regional jet services. Frontier will be using their Airbus A318 aircraft which include their seat back entertainment options.
With prices on Northwest and United running nearly $500 for a roundtrip between Memphis and Denver, Frontier has come in and places intro. fares at just $99 each way.
