How far will the airlines go? United Airlines is following suit with American Airlines and removing snacks from flights less than 2 hours in length. Robin Urbanski, a United Airlines spokeswoman said, it would cover about 29 percent of their flights.
The move is expected to save them $650,000 dollar a year. American pulled snacks on flights less than 90 mins back in 2005 in order to save money. But all these extra features that have been a staple in the industry are now disappearing. How will the flying public react to this?
I personally don't like it one bit. All of my flights I have been on lately were right at the 2 hour mark or slightly less. That means I would have not got that little snack. The flight attendants are going to face near riots as some people don't get their snacks on flights. And all of this for only $650,000 a year. Doesn't quiet seem worth it. It really goes against United's new premium economy airline mentality.
