British Airways has called in conciliation service Acas in an attempt to avoid a three day walk out of cabin crews at the airline. The T&G union, which represents the cabin crews at the airline, said they plan to walk out from Jan 29th through the 31st of the month after talks broke down between them and the airline. The union has not ruled out two more additional work stoppages if in Feb., if things will are not resolved between the two parties.
"Threatening our customers is not the way forward. We have to avoid disruption," said BA's chief executive Willie Walsh.
The T&G said the next 48 to 72 hours would be crucial if there was to be any possibility of preventing the first strike. The union's deputy general secretary Jack Dromey, who is leading its negotiating team, said there was a raft of problems to be settled.
