Frontier Airlines is quietly expanding their route network across the border again. The Denver based airline has openly said that they are looking into avoiding the larger cities where they would face increased competition and begin focusing on more smaller markets and markets that are more suited towards vacation travel spots.
Their newest destination starting May 5, 2007 will be to Vancouver, British Columbia, CA. One daily nonstop flight each way between the two cities on an Airbus A319 plane, which features seat-back TVs in every seat. The service will start at the beginning of the peak cruise season between Vancouver and Alaska.
"Vancouver is the largest port for Alaskan cruises with over one million passengers per year and over 300 sailings," John Happ, Frontier's senior vice president of marketing and planning, said in a press release. "So we have created a summer schedule for our Denver and U.S. connecting passengers that takes advantage of the tremendous cruise market there."
Excellent move on Frontier's part. Expanding their network to vacation spots will help them cash in on a growing industry.
