I have just experienced envy in the airline industry. Having spent a majority of my flight time on a code share partner this weekend, I have to say that envy tends to run rampant. It's clearly evident in the Star Alliance code share between United Airlines and US Airways. It seems like little bro (US Airways) is envious of big bro (United Airlines) and all their newer toys.
When checking in, US Airways didn't allow lower Star Alliance members, Premiers, to check in in the first class line. When we went to board, Star Alliance members were not summoned to board before everyone else, just Dividend Miles passengers. Further more, on a lot of the US Airways registered planes, the Star Logo was clearly pealing off, are they already taking them off for preparations to move into the SkyTeam Alliance?
So what's with the not recognizing other Star Alliance members? Since becoming a member in 2004, US Airways has always had to compete with bigger bro, United Airlines. I think that they feel like they are always having to compete with United instead of working with them. What do you think? Does this sort of competition between other airlines in the same alliance, especially in the same regions produce the same kind of behavior between them all?

Out of curiosity: Were you flying US Airways east or US Airways west (old America West)?
I just flew US (all flights technically still America West) and they recognized Star Alliance elites with a zone 1 boarding call. (Whoo.)
Also, what are "all their newer toys" with reference to United?
