I assume that most people that read this blog are quite aware of the rules that revolve around the carry-on limits and rules but this upcoming holiday could be a bottleneck because of a lot of travelers who have not traveled since the new rules.
Here is a quick overview.
3-1-1
3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
So if you have something that is 3.5 ounces, put it in your check bags. Keep things simple and neat so that things will flow better through security.
And just relax. Getting upset will only make your holiday bad.
