In a story that sounds like something out of the latest James Bond movie, British officials are saying that 2 British Airways planes have tested positive for traces of radioactive polonium-210 and a third is being inspected now. Two planes are being held in London and the third is in Moscow awaiting testing.
Two more planes are of interest to the British Government as they investigate even further. Officials were also interested in a fourth plane - a Boeing 737 leased to a Russian private carrier, Transaero, which landed at Heathrow airport this morning. A fifth Russian plane was also said to be of interest.
The problem is that those three planes that British officials are investigating, have flown over 33,000 passengers between the dates listed. The number of flights affected number 221. Further information can be found on a special site that British Airways has set up, HERE.
British Airways has taken the Boeing 767s, that are affected, out of service until further notice
