The Battle Over China Heats Up
The competition for the new route that will operate from the United States to Beijing, China is heating up even more.  American, Continental, Northwest and United have all bid for the route, but all will originate from different cities.

American wants to fly from their mega hub in Dallas/Fort Worth.  Continental wants to add service from their Newark hub.  Northwest wants to add service from Detroit.  And United wants to link the two national capitals with service from Washington D.C.

So it is no surprise that code share partner with United Airlines, US Airways, has thrown their support behind the carrier's attempts to gain access to the route.  Currently US Airways is phasing in their code shares with the airline with existing markets to China out of San Francisco.

This battle is just heating up.  New service will be granted later this year and will start in early 2007.
