In the strange but true category this week, a small rodent forced a commercial jet to land in Austria. An Austrian Airlines flight made an unscheduled stop Friday after a passenger sneaked a hamster aboard and the rodent escaped. The flight from Spain to Graz had to stop in Innsbruck after the crew was notified that the rodent had escaped.
The passengers were then bused from Innsbruck to Graz after safety concerns of the hamster eating through wires and causing safety issues. Austrian Airlines said the jet would remain grounded until the hamster was found "because it can't take off that way for safety reasons."
Even though the airline did the right thing in grounding the plane, you can find the humor in this story as a hamster forced an airplane to land. You can imagine the passenger will receive some sort of bill for this flight diversion.
