
One industry consultant who works for the Boyd Group puts it simply: "Continental is an airline, not Allied Moving Vans. They are supposed to take people from A to B, not move their household goods. If you need more than 70 pounds of stuff with you, you should probably drive."
It probably is a good move on Continentals part. This ensures that no additional fees were pop up when traveling abroad, since most passengers that have bags near the limit are internationally traveling passengers.
