Record Load Numbers for Airlines Continue
The experts said this would be one of the busiest seasons for airlines in a long time and the load factors that the airlines are reporting are supporting that claim and in large record numbers too.  The last few months airlines have reported much fuller planes than previous years and the trend is continuing.  Several airlines including United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Airlines have all reported very high load factors for the month of July.  Some airlines are even reporting the highest load factor for the month of July ever.

UAL Corp., (UAUA) parent company of United Airlines reported its preliminary traffic results for July 2006. The company reported its highest-ever July passenger load factor of 87.7 percent. Total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased in July by 3.4 percent on a capacity increase of 1.9 percent in scheduled available seat miles (ASMs) compared to the same period in 2005.  It's just amazing that even though United increased their ASMs, their load factor approached 90%.

AMR Corp., (AMR) the parent company of American Airlines, the world's largest airline, reported a July load factor of 87.0 percent -- an increase of 1.9 points compared to the same period last year.  American boarded 9.2 million passengers in July

And then Delta Air Lines reported their highest load factor in any month.

Delta's system load factor was 85.4 percent in July 2006, up 1.3 points from the same period last year. This month's results represent the company's highest system load factor achieved in any month, exceeding the previous high of 84.5 percent in June 2006.

Even the regional carriers were full.  Republic Airways Holdings Inc., (RJET) which operates services from many legacy carriers, reported a load factor of 78.1% versus 72.4% in July 2005. A total of 1,228,250 passengers were carried during the month, a 44.1% increase over the same month last year.
