
The expanded schedule announced Monday gives Orlando-based AirTran Holdings Inc. 14 daily departures from Detroit to seven cities.
Also Monday, AirTran said it will begin daily service between Flint's Bishop International Airport and Tampa on Nov. 15, and will resume daily service from Flint to Fort Myers on Dec. 21, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.
AirTran began serving Metro last November and currently offers non-stop flights between Detroit and Atlanta, Baltimore and Orlando. The carrier expects to continue expanding in the Detroit market as it receives delivery of new Boeing 717 and 737 aircraft through 2010, The Detroit News said.
