Airlines Revise Ticketing Policy
A few of my friends were starting their pre-back to school holiday today.  That means that many of them are experiencing massive delays.

SMS from a friend:  "Just boarded N375UA (United Airlines) Security was a blast!  Flight delayed 45 mins to ORD (Chicago O'Hare), Channel 9 off system wide."

(Channel 9 is United's onboard channel that allows passengers to listen to air traffic control and the pilots.)

SMS from another friend: "Made it to ORD barely, Flight to AMS (Amsterdam) delayed.  This vacation has started great."

So to help everyone out, here are some of the policies that the airlines are making regarding travel abroad and domesically.  Click the Airline's Name for their revised ticketing policy.

American Airlines has said it has canceled three of its 16 daily flights from London Heathrow to the United States.  The airline, which is complying with new restrictions on carry-on luggage following a foiled terror plot, said it would waive the fees it charges for excess baggage.

AirTran has said they are operating a normal flight schedule and passengers are urged to check online the status of their flight.

Alaska Airlines has said for any travel on August 10, 2006,they and Horizon Air will not be accepting any pets or unaccompanied minors for travel.  Alaska is saying you should arrive at least 2 hours ahead for domestic services.  However lines at Sea-Tac Airport in Seattle have been reported as long as 4 or 5 hours long.

Continental Airlines passengers with tickets issued for travel to/from/through the UK between August 10 and September 1, 2006 may reschedule their travel, without penalty, by September 1, 2006.
Delta Air Lines says you can reschedule your flight if it involves any part of the UK.  Also information for passengers who travel through Israel is on the site.

JetBlue Airways says it is operating a normal schedule, so check the status of your flight online.  Jetblue wants passengers to arrive several hours before your flight.

Northwest Airlines says that passengers who were affected by any flight delays can rebook without incuring rebooking charges.

United Airlines says you can rebook your ticket and all fees will be wavied but you must rebook by midnight of your travel date.  Cancelled flights can receive a full refund.
