Mesaba Airlines' flight attendants passed out leaflets telling passengers at Memphis International Airport Monday that their union will strike if its contract is voided.
Eagan-based Mesaba Airlines has asked a federal bankruptcy judge for permission to cancel the flight attendants' labor contracts. Should the judge grant permission, the attendants "vow to strike," the Association of Flight Attendants said in a release.
Mesaba flies regional jets for Northwest Airlines which operates one of its three U.S. hubs from Memphis International airport.
Northwest's bankruptcy filing last September pushed Mesaba into Chapter 11 shortly thereafter, as the larger carrier cut Mesaba's fleet and withheld payments.
