But Mesaba, based in Eagan, Minn., said Thursday that even with a ruling to throw out the contracts, it would continue negotiations with its unions.
The commuter carrier for Northwest sought the right to implement new contract terms that would cut wages and benefits by 19.4%.
The decision could open the door for a strike at Mesaba, which operates 94 flights a day at Detroit Metro Airport.
Unions contend they have the right to strike the carrier if Mesaba imposes terms. But the airline said it would seek to block a strike in court.
