Pilots at Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), a unit of Skywest have voted to authorize a strike at the carrier if contract negotiations fail, the pilots' union said on Tuesday.
More than 92 percent of the pilots who voted supported the strike, the Air Line Pilots Association said in a statement. The union represents more than 1,700 pilots at the carrier.
Atlanta-based ASA, which runs a regional service for Delta Air Lines has been negotiating with its pilots for a new contract since September 2002, the union said.
"Our pilots have been in contract negotiations for nearly four years," union chairman David Nieuwenhuis said in a statement. "That's as long as the duration of some contracts."
