American Airlines has filed papers with the Department of Transporation to start flying between their mega Dallas hub and Beijing, China. American recently started flying to China from Chicago, and wants a bigger piece of the expanding market place.

Fierce competition is expected among major carriers coveting limited flying rights available starting in 2007.
Network carriers, hoping to rebound from years of financial hardship, are adding capacity to international routes where they face less competition. Many experts say China is the most important global aviation market.
