
America West operated flights, revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for the month were 2 billion, down 1.2 percent from April 2005. Capacity was 2.5 billion available seat miles (ASMs), down 2.3 percent from April 2005. The passenger load factor for April was 82.6 percent versus 81.7 percent in April 2005.

United Airlines today reported its preliminary traffic results for April 2006. The company reported its highest-ever April passenger load factor of 82.8 percent. Total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased in April by 8.4 percent on a capacity increase of 4.9 percent in scheduled available seat miles (ASMs) compared to the same period in 2005.
Northwest Airlines today announced a systemwide April load factor of 84.9 percent, 3.7 points above April 2005. Northwest flew 6.04 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 7.12 billion available seat miles (ASMs) in April 2006, a traffic decrease of 4.6 percent and a capacity decrease of 8.8 percent versus April 2005.
Delta Air Lines today reported traffic results for April 2006 (see notes 1 and 2). System traffic for April 2006 decreased 5.9 percent from April 2005 with a capacity decrease of 7.3 percent. Delta's system load factor was 77.6 percent in April 2006, up 1.2 points from the same period last year.
AirTran set another record for traffic in April. Air Tran said traffic grew 32.9 percent to more than 1.2 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs), on an increase of 22.5 percent in capacity, based on available seat miles (ASMs). AirTran flew 1,768,541 passengers in April -- a 33.2 percent increase over April 2005.
