Heathrow will welcome the world's largest commercial airliner, the Airbus A380 to the UK today. The aircraft will arrive on Heathrow's Southern Runway and park at Terminal 3, Pier 6 - a new purpose built GBP105 million (282 Million dollar), 280 metre long, three-storey high pier which can accommodate up to four A380s at a time.

The A380, which will remain at Heathrow overnight, will be carrying out ground handling and airport compatibility trials. These will help to ensure that everything is ready for the aircraft's entry into service.
