Delta Air Lines says it will begin two round trips daily in June between Fargo and its Salt Lake City hub.
The flights will begin June 8, using 50-passenger jets operated by affiliated carriers SkyWest and Atlantic Southeast Airlines. Fargo and Sioux Falls, S.D., are among a group of seven cities that Delta said will be getting new nonstop service to Salt Lake City.
Delta, which is based in Atlanta, does not presently serve North Dakota, although it offered flights from Bismarck to Salt Lake City years ago. U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., said he hoped Delta would expand its North Dakota service.
"My hope is they would also consider choosing Bismarck in the future as well, because they previously had a Bismarck to Salt Lake City flight," Dorgan said.
Delta said it will offer a one-way introductory fare of $129 between Fargo and Salt Lake City. Daily flights will leave Fargo at 8:50 a.m. and 2:25 p.m., and departures from Salt Lake City to Fargo will be from 10:25 a.m. and 4:55 p.m.
Once Delta starts in Fargo, the city's airport will be served by four airlines for the first time in many years, said Shawn Dobberstein, the airport's executive director. Northwest Airlines, United Express and Allegiant Air serve Fargo now.
