AirTran Adds More Routes

Despite recent pull backs from the major carriers regarding seat capacity, AirTran continues to expand its route network. Even Southwest and JetBlue have slowed or even halted route network expandition. But AirTran continues to increase their domestic network as the Atlanta based carrier looks to gain even more market share.

AirTran Airways today announced the airline will expand its route map from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport by adding new nonstop flights to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. The nonstop daily flights to and from Detroit will begin May 25, 2006, and will be served by the airline's popular Boeing 717 aircraft.

AirTran also said it would expand services from Chicago's Midway International Airport by adding new nonstop flights to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The two nonstop daily flights to and from Charlotte will begin May 9, 2006, and will be served by the airline's popular Boeing 717 aircraft.

Additionally, the airline will begin its sixth daily flight to Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport from Chicago, also beginning May 9, 2006.
